Syllabuses
Schools and teachers use syllabuses to develop educational programs for students. A syllabus is available for each course developed by NESA. NESA Syllabuses describe the knowledge, understanding, skills, values and attitudes that students are expected to develop at each stage of learning as well as: an aim and rationale for the learning, outcomes and content, cross-curriculum priorities, general capabilities, specific requirements for delivery and Australian Curriculum content inclusions. All K–10 syllabuses and Years 11 and 12 syllabuses are available on the NESA website.
The six Key Learning Areas are:
- English
- Mathematics
- Human Society and its Environment - History and Geography
- Science and Technology

Library
Classes from Kinder to Year 6 have library lessons each week. The library is very well stocked for a small school. We have a wide range of fiction and non fiction titles, magazines and games. As well as formal library lessons, children have access to the library during break times and for research work in class time or used as a space for incursions, special visits or programs. The Bookmobile, from Shoalhaven City Library, visits the school once a month on a Friday for individual and class borrowing.
School Sport
We aim to give children a taste of many different sports and to foster active, healthy students who can learn to engage in fair play and teamwork. Our school sports also build on Fundamental Movement Skills developed in PE lessons. School sport is held on Fridays. The school applies for Sporting Schools grants each term to run programs run by local sporting clubs or organisations to run programs or clinics for a range of different sports such as gymnastics, tennis, AFL, swimming or soccer. The school is divided into 4 house groups: Throsby (blue), Hird (green), Osborne (red) and Brooks (yellow). The School Swimming and Water Safety Program is organised each year and is run in either Term 1 or Term 4 depending on the local pool and swimming teacher availability. Our school has a sporting record of which we are very proud. Over the years, we have provided representatives at district, region, and state levels in various sports, including tennis, hockey, cross country, swimming and athletics. Small School Carnivals in athletics, swimming and cross-country are held each year for students who are turning 8 or older in the calendar year.
Music
Students will have the opportunity to join the choir for various performances throughout the year. We often participate in the Shoalhaven Eisteddfod and the Choral Festival. Music is taught K-6 as part of the Creative Arts Music syllabus. We also offer a Music Club for interested students who play an instrument, sing or are just interested in music.
